1 x cup Self Raising Flour
1 x cup Milk (any variation)
1 x large egg
pinch of salt
Directions
- Sieve the flour into a bowl, add the pinch of salt and the milk and whisk briefly to combine.
- Add the egg and whisk into a smooth batter consistency. Leave to stand for 10 minutes, then whisk again and leave for 5 minutes.
- To cook, simply heat a little oil or butter in a medium sized frying pan over a medium to high heat and spoon in with a ladle – once browned underneath, flip and cook for a further minute or so, maybe less – until browned basically.
- Pop on a plate, which you can put into a low oven or under a very low grill to keep warm. Serve with any number of accompaniments
Notes
- You can change the quantities however you wish, as long as you have equal portions of flour and milk and then decide whether or not to have 1 or 2 eggs. You can also use plain flour and a teaspoon of baking powder if you wish
- This breakfast is great served with streaky bacon, maple syrup or fruit for that proper American style feel.
